David Morrow MD Guest Sun Protection Expert on KMIR
The June 2012 issue of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery will feature an article describing the minimally invasive technique developed by renowned cosmetic surgeon David Morrow, MD that significantly rejuvenates upper eyelids. The article entitled, “Stab Incision for Upper Eyelid Medial Fat Removal,” explains how the surgeons quickly and easily remove the age-related fat pad located at the inner corner of the eye. This upper eyelid medial fat protrusion is one of the most common cosmetic complaints as it creates an older, more tired appearance in both men and women. Its removal using Dr. Morrow’s technique restores a more youthful contour to the upper eye lid and may be performed under local anesthesia.
“Traditionally, surgeons performing blepharoplasty have made a horizontal incision running the entire length of the upper eyelid in order to reach and remove the medial fat pad,” explained Dr. Morrow. “My method, which we have now performed on 979 patients, allows us to remove the fat pad through a 3-4 mm oblique stab incision. This safe, time efficient and minimally invasive procedure yields excellent outcomes with a far smaller scar.”
“In situations where patients just require the removal of the fat pad,” added Dr. Morrow, “this procedure has an excellent success rate. Over a 20-year period, our patients have reported extremely high satisfaction rates with no complications related to the technique.” On average, the procedures were completed in less than 15 minutes.
Dr. Morrow’s groundbreaking work in the field of cosmetic surgery and skin rejuvenation has earned him recognition from his peers and his patients alike. A diplomate of the American Boards of Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Morrow was named one of the world’s top cosmetic surgeons by the International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. In January 2012, a Morrow Institute fellow presented his work in sequential facelifting and chemical peeling at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeon’s Annual Meeting, attended by experts from around the world.
